All about Prayer

We, as feeble, sinful beings, have the privilege of speaking to our CREATOR.  When we pray, it is God to whom we are talking to so you can be sure that our prayer is heard.  You may ask How can that be?  It’s all to do with faith and believing.  Faith is the opposite of doubt. Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Matthew 9:27-30, when two blind men came to Jesus and asked Him to heal them, Jesus first asked them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” and their reply was, “Yes, Lord.” “Then He touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your faith let it be to you.’ And their eyes were opened.  They believe before receiving the healing. Now, that’s faith.

Their desire was to be healed. They believed; that is, they had faith in advance that it would be done. You, too, can have that same faith. God will increase our faith if we fervently ask Him for it and seek to draw closer to Him in prayer and reading His Word (the Bible).

We are to pray not to impress God or just to inform God, but to invite God into our lives.  This is very crucial.  The devil (the enemy of the soul) is out there like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.  To discern the crafty working of the enemy, we need to be praying and to be in the spirit of prayer at all times.

When we come in prayer, we experience fellowship with the Lord and all the heavenly host.  Now that’s a privilege.  Just like parents with their children, God cannot do everything for us.  If parents did everything for their children, even in their old age, their children would be pretty handicapped and behind in life.

Just like parents, God cannot do everything for us. He will never do for us what He has given us the power to do for ourselves. He has promised His aid, but not without our effort. Does that make sense? Remember, the car will only drive off when you turn the engine on and place your feet on the gas.

Talking or conversing with God is your direct line and communication to heaven. You address Him as a friend, asking Him to meet your needs or deliver you from a situation. Maybe asking for victory from a bad lifestyle to stop smoking, drinking alcohol, fornicating (sex outside of marriage), etc.  God is capable of delivering you from any situation.  Our Lord, the creator and sustainer of life, can do anything but fail. You need to trust Him.

Dear reader, maybe right now, you know your life isn’t what you want it to be.  You’ve lost your wife, husband, father, mother, sister, brother, job, business, or whatever the situation may be.  Without Jesus, you can do nothing. John 15:5

Without Jesus, nothing is possible.  With Jesus, everything is possible.  If you are unemployed, there’s nothing more important now than faith and prayer.

These are serious times. Everything that can go wrong is going wrong: severe droughts, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, and tornadoes everywhere.

It almost seems like there is no escape.  Do you feel like screaming,STOP THE WORLD, I WANT TO GET OFF?” Your only hiding place is in Jesus.  He can give peace in the storm.  Even the wind and the waves obey His voice.

What can you do when your back is against the wall and you have no one to go to, or nowhere to turn or run? You can come to Jesus.  When you call on Jesus, all things are possible.

E.G. White, one of my favourite authors, says, “Ministering angels are waiting about the throne to instantly obey the mandate of Jesus Christ to answer every prayer offered in earnest, living faith.” That’s hope!

God has appointed angels who do His will to respond to the prayers of all who cry unto Him for help in every situation.  When you rise in the morning, thank God for His protection while you slept.  Heavenly angels were at your bedside, keeping watch.  Our heavenly Father commissioned them to watch over you while you slept and kept you safe.

Do not approach God lightly in your prayers.  Be sincere and, in the name of Jesus, come before the Lord with confidence.  God answer prayers in three ways.  He says Yes! No! and Wait!  Now, that’s the hard one . Wait! The Lord is not ready for it to happen or for you to have it.  The time is not correct. It’s not good for you.  It may hurt, harm or even kill.

Like children, sometimes we get rebellious and want our own way. When we hear No!, what do we do?  We break down the door. We suffer the consequences of our wrongdoing when we break down the door. This is called disobedience. Our prayers will not always be answered immediately nor always be answered just the way we want. This is where we learn to wait on the Lord and trust Him, come what may

In His mercy and great love towards us, the Lord always forgives us when we confess our wrongs by praying to Him.  No other man can forgive our sins except our heavenly Father God through His son Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:9,  If we confess our sins, He (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousnessIn Psalms 32:7, Jesus says He will protect us.  Jeremiah 32:27 Jesus asks, “Is anything too hard for me?”Isaiah 41:10 Jesus says, I will help thee…

Prayer is no evidence of conversion if the life does not change.  To have a new heart is to have a new mind, purpose, and motives.   Communion with God through prayer imparts the soul new life and an intimate knowledge of His will.

When our lives are full of selfishness, malice, deceit, envy, jealousy, hate, and lies, we need to communicate with God through prayer to cleanse and remove these characteristics from us to receive peace in our hearts.

When everything seems completely hopeless and falling apart, talk to God.  It doesn’t matter where you are, talk to him. In your mind, on the bus, train,  plane, car, or park. He will hear.  Just call unto Him, and tell him what you want and how you feel, He understands.  He is ready and waiting to answer your call.

There is power in prayer.  Do not be reluctant to pray.Pray even if you don’t feel like praying.  We are told that prayer is the key in the hand of faith to unlock God’s storehouse.  John 15:5 Jesus says He is the vine, and we can do nothing without Him.

In other words, you can depend on Him.  In Jeremiah 33:3, Jesus says Call unto Him, and when we do, He will show us great things you and I  knew nothing about.

Prayer is the key that unlocks all doors.
